Hi!For monolingual pepole like I was, learning Esperanto first does seem to help in learning other languages later. There seems to be a certain mental flexibility that you gain in learning a second language, which helps with later languages. Esperanto *is* easier than many other languages, so it makes a nice stepping stone. Of course, other things like the way you are taught and how much exposure you get to your learning language outside class make a difference as well.
